Intern Therapist

I’m so glad you have made it this far on the journey to discovering the best parts of yourself and the depth of connection you can have with those around you.  I believe therapy is a deeply personal process, and as I join you on that road, the most important things I can bring are authentic compassion and non-judgmental curiosity.

I help individuals and couples better understand themselves and their relationships in order to cultivate a more intentional life.  I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, but I mostly see adult clients 18+ navigating depression, anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, and life transitions.  I am especially passionate about helping individuals struggling with intimate communication, masculinity issues, and family-based trauma.  And let’s be honest: the issues we encounter in life have a way of melding into one another and sometimes the issue at hand is less apparent than simply the desire for change.  Sometimes the road we will travel together is clearly marked and other times it requires more exploration – both are completely valid ways of using therapy.

Because of this, each individual and situation is unique, and my approach integrates modalities from several different therapeutic techniques.  Forming the basis for this approach is Existential and Narrative Therapy, meaning I believe in your power to not only change, but fully take agency over what that change may be.  I also heavily utilize techniques from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Adlerian Therapy, which provide a framework for recognizing patterns of thinking and behavior that go against your interests and brainstorming personalized methods of counteracting them in order to replace these negative elements with positive ones.  Adlerian Therapy also emphasizes how much of an impact family can have on our behavior and worldview.  Because of the strength of the mind-body connection and how emotions are stored in the body, I also incorporate therapeutic methods from Somatic Therapy to help track and process these emotions.

Navigating the roadblocks within ourselves is not always an easy process, but as we overcome them together, the consistent support, insight, and encouragement therapy provides can make it a process that leads to real growth.  My own style highlights humor as an incredible tool to manage the sometimes overwhelming nature of our lives.

A local to the Pacific Northwest, I have always felt at home when I can see both the mountains and the water.  I studied sociology and creative writing at Western Washington University and had a career as a project manager in Seattle before deciding to fulfill my ultimate desire to share the transformative power of counseling with others.  This led me to enroll in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Seattle University, where I am currently in my third year.  When I am not talking about therapy, I can be found reading Stephen King, experimenting in the kitchen, woodworking, or on the couch binging bad TV with my partner and dog.
